message error detection code (MDC)

Message Error Detection(MDC) is a checksum method used to determine data integrity. The procedure is more complex than the detection of data transmission errors, since a possible attacker would have to change the message and the checksum at the same time, or exchange a message for another message that results in the same checksum.
