message switching (MS)

Transmission switching is a variant of message switching in which the message to be transmitted is passed through undivided and with respective intermediate storage by means of store-and-forward procedure from section to section up to the destination station. This is in contrast to packet switching, where the message is broken down into individual segments of a specific length.
