metro fibre channel protocol (mFCP)

The Metro Fibre Channel Protocol (mFCP) is a gateway protocol comparable to iFCP with the difference that mFCP is based on the connectionless User Datagram Protocol( UDP) and not on TCP/ IP. Since the UDP protocol operates connectionless without an acknowledgement mechanism, mFCP achieves better performance, but also lower reliability.
