microphonics

Microphonics is an interference effect in acoustic reproduction. It is an effect in which electronic components, circuit boards and housings absorb sound, change their properties due to the sound pressure and with this change impair the acoustic disturbance.

Passive and active electronic parts and components, i.e. resistors, capacitors, coils, transistors and integrated circuits( IC) can change their properties slightly under sound pressure. The sound pressure can hit the corresponding component directly or be absorbed via printed circuit boards and housings and passed on to the components. The change occurs in rhythm with the change in sound pressure and causes amplification factors or impedances to change slightly, which is noticeable in the amplified signal and thus in the reproduction.

Microphonics can be regarded as acoustic feedback in which electronic components perform the undesirable function of "sound transducers".
