mobile edge computing (5G) (MEC)

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is a technology used in 5th generation(5G) mobile networks.

Mobile edge computing can significantly reduce latency and improve reliability. In this technique, applications are moved from central data centers to the edge of the network and deployed on the edge side of the Cloud Radio Access Network( C-RAN). The cloud servers used for this purpose are closer to the transmitting stations in 5g Standalone(5G SA) and are thus closer to the end user. Latency is reduced because hosting takes place on the edge side and the signals do not have to traverse the longer data path via the core network. There are also fewer node computers on this data path.
