mobile identification number (IMSI) (MIN)
The Mobile Identification Number (MIN) corresponds to the International Mobile Subscriber Identity(IMSI) in the GSM standard.
The MIN number is a 34-bit identifier generated from the telephone number. It is part of the Electronic Serial Number( ESN), which forms the call number for non-GSM cell phones.
In analog 1st generation( 1G) cellular networks, the Mobile Identification Number is used to route the call. In most 2nd generation( 2G) networks, the cellular system uses a temporarily assigned number for routing.
