mobile node (mobile IP) (MN)

A Mobile Node (MN) is a mobile node. This designation is used with Mobile- IP( MIP) for the mobile terminal. Such a mobile computer is identified by its permanent IP address and can access the Internet from different networks or subnets.

To ensure that the mobile terminal is always reachable, the router of the home subnet stores the IPv6 address of the mobile node. This function is called a home agent( HA) and is used to forward IP data packets from the mobile station.

In addition to the permanent IP address, the home address (HA), mobile terminals also have another temporarily assigned IP address, the care-of address( CoA). There are various mechanisms for how the care-of address supports the forwarding of a mobile terminal from the home network( HN) to a foreign network.
