monochrome graphics adapter (MGA)
The MonochromeGraphicsAdapter (MGA) supports monochrome graphics displays with an image resolution of 640 x 240 pixels with 4 bits in the gray levels, corresponding to 16 gray levels. Since the MGA format only supported monochromatic displays with a relatively low resolution, it was superseded in 1987 by the Video Graphics Array ( VGA) introduced by IBM.
