multi channel management

Multi-channel management is a term from distribution policy. Multi-channel management refers to the coordination of different distribution channels.

In multi-channel management, a distinction is made between traditional single-channel distribution, e.g. sales in the company's own stores, and multi-channel distribution, sales by means of several sales channels. Examples of different sales channels are, in addition to the company's own stores, sales via its own sales force, catalog sales or via partner agencies or sales intermediaries.

With the development of the Internet into e-commerce, the online channel with web portals and online stores, as well as mobile shopping and social shopping with smartphones and other mobile devices via social networks, continue to be added as additional sales channels. Coordinated management with regard to pricing policy and multi- channel marketing across several sales channels requires a clear multi-channel strategy on the part of the company with an assertive coordinating body.
