multiple channels per carrier (MCPC)

Multiple Channels Per Carrier (MCPC) is a term used in satellite communication for the occupancy of transponder channels.

If a transmitter sends a single carrier signal that occupies the channel width of a transponder, this is referred to as a single carrier per channel( SCPC). Such a channel can be split into multiple channels using the various multiplexing techniques, such as TDMA, allowing multiple channels to be transmitted per carrier, corresponding to multiple channels per carrier (MCPC).

Since digital TV requires much less bandwidth than analog TV, MCPC can be used to transmit up to 10 digital TV programs and several radio programs simultaneously via one transponder channel.
