online transaction processing (OLTP)

Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) deals with the processing of data sets and supports procedural transaction processing.

In online transactions, they are processed sequentially in batch, with the client constantly connected to the server and maintaining communication. Once the server completes the transaction, the client receives the results. OLTP is used in operational systems for online transactions on the Internet. In the multidimensional version MOLTP, this protocol supports applications and data models and can be used on the Internet for online transactions of databases and in the data warehouse.

OLTP supports transaction-oriented processing, it is characterized by the fact that it can quickly capture and process smaller amounts of data.
