open ebook format (E-Book) (OEB)

The Open Ebook Format (OEB) is a de facto standard based on the Extensible Markup Language(XML) developed by the Open Ebook Forum (OEBF), which includes well-known companies in the typesetting and publishing industries. These include Adobe, Random House, and the American Library Association, among others.

The Open Ebook Format facilitates conversion and is used to convert content into an e-book. In addition to plain text files, the OeB format can also contain graphics and stylesheets. The older OEB format is being replaced by Electronic Publication( EPUB) from the International Digital Publishing Forum( IDPF) because the EPUB format supports dynamic adaptation oftext to the display.
