open software foundation distributed computing environment (OSI) (OSF DCE)
The Distributed Computing Environment(DCE) of the Open Software Foundation( OSF) is an example of a general-purpose, open, standardized distribution platform for client- server architectures.
The attributes "open" and "standardized" should be used here with caution, since on the one hand it does not concern a product of official standardization committees and on the other hand by the OSF not only interfaces were defined, but code was partially selected, which is quasi a component of the specification of the OSF DCE. However, the specification of code contradicts the idea of open systems.
