The orbit is the trajectory of a body in space. In satellite technology, it is the trajectory of a satellite. The shape, direction and speed of the trajectory always refer to the earth. Satellite orbits are elliptical, their vertices are the apsides. The point furthest from the earth is called apogee, the point closest to the earth is called perigee.
