pacific ocean region (sat com) (POR)
The satellite positions of GEO satellites are assigned to international regions. The assignment knows the Atlantic Ocean Region( AOR), the Indian Ocean Region( IOR) and the Pacific Ocean Region (POR). In the latter, the satellite position is over the Pacific Ocean.
This orbital position, located between 160 and 180 degrees east longitude, is occupied by geostationary satellites such as Intelsat satell ites, through which international communications links are switched between the Australia, Japan, Indonesia, eastern China and the west coast of the United States.
