potential equalization
Equipotential bonding is a technique used to compensate for potential differences caused by lightning strikes. As a result, all devices, installations and systems operate with a uniform reference potential.
All metal parts and supply lines entering the inner lightning protection zone(LZP) are included in the equipotential bonding. Such equipotential bonding is implemented by means of an equipotential bonding conductor that connects the various electrical operating equipment and thus ensures the same reference potential. In the case of current-carrying lines, equipotential bonding is achieved by means of surge protection devices( SPD). In lightning protection systems, there is lightning equipotential bonding for this purpose.
