process supported full virtualization

Some current server virtualization solutions such as KVM or Xen specifically implement virtualization support on the part of modern processors in order to couple the convenience of full virtualization with good performance.

On the one hand, these central processing units( CPU) extend the instruction set, eliminate instructions that are a hindrance to virtualization and create their own virtualization context, by means of which the secure isolation of guests can be implemented directly in the CPU. On the one hand, this enables more secure operation of the virtualized systems with higher performance, and on the other hand, the hypervisor programs can be implemented in a leaner and thus more robust manner.

At Intel this technology is called Intel Virtualization Technology( VT, formerly Vanderpool) and at AMD AMD-V (formerly Pacifica).
