protection profile (chipcard) (PP)

Protection Profiles(PP) are security features required by some institutions to comply with Common Criterias( CC).

Protection profiles are concerned withthe trustworthiness and functionality of the corresponding products and their security aspects. The protection profiles are written by the German Federal Office for Security( BSI). They form the minimum requirements for the corresponding products and determine their safe areas of use and can be used for the certification of the products.

Protection profiles are established to support the private and public sectors in the development and purchase of IT products. However, these products must meet the uniform security standards.
