quad data rate (QDR)

The QDR (Quadruple Data Rate) technique doubles the clock rate compared to the Double Date Rate( DDR), in which a data packet is transferred on each clock edge, the rising as well as the falling.

The different transfer methods: SDR, DDR, QDR

In the QDR technique, two data packets are transmitted at each edge change, i.e. four per clock pulse. This method was already used in 1993 for the EISA bus and also for the Accelerated Graphics Port( AGP). Furthermore, the Front Side Bus( FSB) of the Pentium 4 uses the QDR method.
