radiated emission (RE)

Interference emission( RE) is a desired or unwanted electromagnetic energy propagating in space, caused either by transverse electromagnetic waves or by capacitive and inductive coupling. One always speaks of interference emission when a source radiates electromagnetic energy.

Radio frequency interference radiation is caused by electrical equipment and is also called radio frequency interference( RFI). Power supplies such as switching power supplies that generate steep edges also emit RFI. This interference affects all surrounding components. The international standards of the Comité International Special Pertubations Radioélectriques( CISPR) for radio interference are adopted nationally. The low-frequency interference between 150 kHz and 30 MHz is measured as voltages between the supply line and protective earth; the high-frequency interference components above 30 MHz are determined by measuring the field strength.
