raster image file format (RIFF)

Raster Image File Format (RIFF) is a graphics format for rasterized graphics and images used in scanners. It is an extended version of the Tagged Image File Format( TIFF) for scanned files, in which the image data is stored compactly with colors and halftones. In raster graphics, the pixels are divided as square fields by columns and rows.
