receiver (Rx)

Receiver is the collective name for receivers of all kinds. Not only radio or television receivers, but also the receiver modules for telephone, telex, etc. Furthermore, the receiver modules of terminals, computer interfaces and bus connections are called receivers.

All receivers, whether optical, acoustic, digital or radio, receive the signals and prepare them so that they can be further processed, displayed or acoustically reproduced. They are electronic circuits that receive the signals, transvert them in terms of frequency, select them and amplify them.

Inradio technology, mobile communications and broadcasting techniques for radio and television, receivers are used to receive the modulated RF signals, transmit them to an intermediate frequency and demodulate the RF signals. Well-known receivers used in consumer electronics are the satellite receiver, the tuner and the digital receiver. Such receivers almost always operate on the superheterodyne principle.
