InGSM networks, analog voice signals are transmitted in digital form at a data rate of 13 kbit/s using GSM 06.10. The algorithms required for this purpose were created specifically for mobile communications. The algorithms required for this were created specifically for mobile communications.

The combined method for the transformation is called Regular Pulse Excitation (RPE) with Long Term Prediction( LTP). In this method, data reduction is performed by RPE after Linear Predictive Coding( LPC) in combination with Long Term Prediction.

The analog speech signal is sampled by linear quantization at 13 bits and a sampling rate of 8 kHz, yielding a 104 kbit/s digital signal. This signal is subsequently transformed into a transmittable PCM signal via LPC coding.
