reject (REJ)

  1. Reject (REJ) is a control field in the HDLC protocol for negative confirmation after a bit or sequence error has occurred. A REJ command indicates that all previously received I-frames were error-free, the subsequently sent data must be retransmitted. The sender is requested by REJ frame to retransmit the lost frame. With the variable N(R) in the REJ frame, the receiver signals which frame it expects next.
  2. InGSM and ISDN networks, reject is the rejection of a received component by the transaction capability of the local user. If the user detects a wrong component he can reject it by a Reject.
