reliable transfer service element (OSI) (RTSE)

Reliable Transfer Service Element (RTSE), like Application Control Service Element (ACSE), Commitment, Concurrency, and Recovery Service Element( CCRSE) and Remote Operation Service Element( ROSE), is one of the general service elements grouped together in Common Application Service Element( CASE).

RTSE is used for the secure transmission of application protocol data units( APDU). By means of RTSE, APDUs are transmitted only once, and in full. In the event of an error, RTSE signals the faulty transfer and is also capable of surviving errors in the transmission equipment or in the end systems.

Reliable Transfer Service Element (RTSE) is specified in ITU-T Recommendations X.218 and X.228 and in ISO Standard 9066.
