secure data exchange (LAN) (SDE)

Secure Data Exchange(SDE) is a standardized security mechanism used in IEEE 802.10.

In the SDE security mechanism, the group membership of a frame is inserted in the extended header. A separate error check, the Integrity Check Value ( ICV), is entered in the frame to detect transmission errors.

Secure Data Exchange is supported by a Key Management Protocol (KMP), which also supports other security protocols.
