serial data transport interface (SDI) (SDTI)

The Serial Data Transport Interface (SDTI) is a serial interface for professional and semi-professional video technology.

The Serial Data Transport Interface differs from the SDI interface in that the SDTI interface can also be used to transmit compressed video over the SDI lines. This allows compressed video signals to be transmitted at higher than real-time speeds.

The SDTI interface is standardized by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers( SMPTE) under 305M, and another standard for an HD SDTI interface is SMPTE 348M.
