service delivery platform (NGN) (SDP)

In Next Generation Networks( NGN), network operators will use a Service Delivery Platform( SDP) to provide their value-added services. Behind such a platform is a uniform software architecture with which services can be developed, provided and integrated into other value-added services.

The service delivery platform is located on the application layer and is connected to the underlying transport and switching layers via abstraction interfaces. The abstraction interfaces provide easy access to network functions.

In addition to the service offering, the SDP platform supports the development of new services and provides standard interfaces to the Service Creation Environment( SCE), the Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting( AAA), the Operating Support System( OSS), and the Business Support System( BSS).
