service-oriented interconnection (NGN) (SoIx)

In Next Generation Networks( NGN), there are two types of connection between the third-party networks and the NGN architecture: the Service-Oriented Interconnection (SoIx) and the Connectivity-Oriented Interconnection( CoIx).

The service-orientedinterconnection (SoIx) represents the physical and logical coupling of the NGN domains through which the network operators and service providers offer their services via the NGN subsystems such as the IMS core or the PSTN/ISDNEmulation Subsystem( PES). These subsystems are used for control and signaling and thus for full interoperability. In this way, defined quality of service( QoS) or security policies can be specified via the Service-Oriented Interconnection.
