short range automotive radar frequency allocation (SARA)
Short Range Automotive Radar Frequency Allocation (SARA) is an initiative of automotive manufacturers and suppliers to promote short range radar for automotive technology.
The aim of SARA technology is to use the 24 GHz radar frequency allocated by the EU Commission for this application and to work with as few and, above all, low-cost radar sensors as possible.
The aim of SARA activities is to obtain approval forbroadband radar systems in the 24 GHz range, which is reserved for other applications, or even in the unregulated 79 GHz range.
The SARA initiative includes DaimlerChrysler, Bosch, Delphi and Siemens, among others. Some of the companies have already developed systems based on 24 GHz technology.
