snubber
Snubber means buffer. The snubber capacitor is a capacitor that dampens unwanted oscillations, voltage spikes, overvoltages and high- frequency interference, which is why it is also used for spark suppression.
Snubber elements are a series connection of the snubber capacitor and a resistor.
As an RC element, it is used as an interference suppressor on switching contacts, in automotive electronics, in audio amplifiers, and in converters with thyristors and IGBTs, especially where inductive loads are switched. Depending on the requirements, the snubber element can also consist of only one snubber capacitor. The capacitance and resistance values of the snubber elements depend on the required time constant (RC) and are several microfarads or over a hundred ohms.
