Speakon plug is a professional speaker plug to which the speaker cable is connected.
It is available in 4-pole and 8-pole versions for strand diameters from 4 mm to 6 mm. This allows speaker cabinets with four separate paths to be connected via a single Speakon cable. The plug contact is only established after a rotary movement. The robust Speakon connectors have a locking mechanism and a stable strain relief, they are touch-protected and can handle high power ratings of 50 W and more. They are designed so that when a plug is pulled out of the amplifier output, it cannot be shorted.
In addition to the Speakon plug, other speaker plugs include the DIN speaker plug, banana plug, jack plug and EP plug.
