A splash page also called splash screen is the start page that the Internet user sees when a complex web page, program or online game is in the process of loading.
A splash page informs the viewer about the loading process and usually includes an indicator about the duration of the remaining loading time.
The splash page is often equipped with further animations like music or pictures to shorten the waiting time for the user. In addition, it is also used as an entry page to allow web users to choose the language of the country or to request access permissions, .e.g. age restriction for pages with content harmful to minors.
