subnotebook

Subnotebooks are small notebooks that fall between notebooks and ultra mobile personalcomputers(UMPCs). Unlike UMPCs and tablet PCs, they have their own keyboard and touchpad and smaller displays than notebooks. They also have smaller dimensions than the latter and are lighter. Their weight is between 900 g and 1.6 kg. The screen diagonals of subnotebooks range from 10" to 13", devices with larger screens are classified as notebooks.

The basic equipment of subnotebooks is comparable to that of notebooks. This includes energy-saving CULV processors, Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV), like the Atom processor, but also dual-core processors with a clock rate of over 1 GHz, large working memories, which can certainly be 2 GB and larger, hard drives of 100 GB and more, and more rarely a DVD drive.

Their displays are high- resolution, they can have aspect ratios of 4:3 or 16:9, and also support audio and video.
