super mobile high-definition link (superMHL)

Super MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) is a high- resolution display interface specially developed for smartphones and supports the 8K standard ofultra HDTV with an image resolution of 7,680 x 4,320 pixels. The image can be displayed at a refresh rate of 120 Hz and in Deep Color with a color depth of 48 bits. To improve the dynamic range, Super MHL supports High Dynamic Range( HDR) and a wider color gamut.

Just like MHL 3.0, SuperMHL transmits audiovisual data for video and audio. Sound transmission supports the highest quality surroundsound with Dolby Surround. Data transmission is encrypted with High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection( HDCP). Powering external devices is also possible. The supply power is 40 W; in contrast, it is 10 W for MHL 3.0. Smartphones or tablets can be powered by the TV via these supply lines.

As a connector, SuperMHL uses a twist- proof plug with 32 pins, which is similar to the USB-C plug. Besides that, the USB-C plug, the micro USB plug and the HDMI plug can also be used.
