texture
A texture is a one, two or even three-dimensional pattern, image or structure. These patterns, which can be modified in many parameters, can be found in graphics programs as fill pattern libraries.
They include patterns of natural materials such as minerals, stones and metals, wool and leather, as well as of natural events such as the formation of clouds and bubbles, flames, rainbows and cosmic energy.
Textures can be from technology and represent technical noise or the texture of different papers. Fonts and company logos can be textures as well as photos, graphics or diagrams. Creativity in terms of texture patterns is almost unlimited and can be further enhanced by application-specific textures created by the user.
The texture technique is used in graphics programs to provide surfaces and bodies with ready-made patterns, material replicas or structures. For example, texture mapping can be used to apply various wood grain, stone or metal textures to planar bodies and to bodies with any curvature.
