throughput rate
Indata communications and computer technology, throughput rate stands for the bandwidth or capacity that can be transmitted over a connection.
The throughput rate indicates the data throughput. It is expressed in terms of the number of bits transmitted per unit time; as bits per second( bps or bit/s). According to this definition, ten billion bits per second are transmitted in a 10 Gigabit Ethernet( 10GbE).
This is in contrast to the forwarding rate( FR). It refers to the number of data packets transmitted per unit of time, packets per second (pps).
