transition point (wiring) (TP)
In structured cabling, a cable distributor (KV) is an optional device in horizontal cabling, i.e. in floor cabling.
The cable distributor is located between the floor distributor and the subscriber connection( TA) and is used to convert a multi-pair TP cable to several two- or four-pair cables or optical fibers for the connection boxes. A cable distributor has fixed cables, is therefore not maneuverable and has only passive components.
In structured cabling, cable distributors form consolidation points ( CP), which are housed in suspended ceilings or raised floors.
