unshielded unshielded twisted pair (U/UTP)

The U/UTP cable, Unshielded Unshielded Twisted Pair (U/UTP), is the simplest form of TP cable.

In this version, individual conductor pairs are twisted, as in other TP cables, but they are not covered by a shield. There is also no overall shielding, which shields the complete conductor strand. There is only the outer jacket over the twisted wires. Because this cable has no shielding, it is thinner and more flexible than others. However, the characteristic values are also worse.
