volume model

The solid or body model is used to model 3D models with a close fit to reality, an approximation of reality as close as possible.

The solid model is created by rendering the surface model, which is the result of the wireframe model, and takes into account the structures, transparency and reflective properties of the surface material in the calculation. Furthermore, the background and the shadows resulting from the lighting.

In the solid model, the polygons of the wireframe model are calculated to continuous transitions, hidden surfaces can only be made visible by rotating the coordinate system or the 3D model. The computational effort for the solid model is relatively high, therefore a prior accurate modeling by wireframe or surface model is required.

There are several solid models: the Boundary Representation Model, known as the Brep Model or Surface Boundary Model, the Constructive Solid Geometry Model, or CSG Model, and the Swept Area Solid Model, also known as the Translation and Rotation Model.
