wireless DisplayPort (wDP)

The Wireless DisplayPort (wDP) was developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association( VESA) and the Wireless Gigabit Alliance(WiGig Alliance). It is a radio-based evolution of the wired DisplayPort.

Wireless DisplayPort operates in the 60 GHz band with a bandwidth of 7 GHz, which corresponds to a transmission rate of approximately 7 Gbit/s. The 60 GHz technology was brought into the standard by the WiGig Alliance and the specifications for the display technology came from VESA.

Wireless DisplayPort works packet-oriented and supports bidirectional transmission between personalcomputers, notebooks or tablets and displays with the highest resolution.
