yellow page (YP)
- Yellow Pages (YP) are comparable to telephone directories, in which employees of a company store knowledge information that can be accessed by other employees. Yellow Pages are used in knowledge management and can be automatically updated by data extraction of knowledge information from repositories.
- The term Yellow Pages also refers to directories of network services. For example, in Bluetooth, services are defined using the Service Discovery Application Profile( SDAP).
- The term Yellow Pages is also used for special search services on the Web. These are mainly search services in which the user can find information about public institutions. Such search services are interesting for online marketing. The entries are often subject to a fee.
- Yellow Pages was also the name given to a service for centralized management and maintenance of networks. This name was changed to Network Information Service( NIS).
