CD book
The specifications of the standardized compact discs(CD) are written down in books. In the CD standards, the Books have a color designation.
The Books represent the historical development of the various CD formats. The first Book for CD standards was the Red Book for audio CDs, CD-DA, introduced in 1980. The others are the Orange Book with specifications for CD-R and CD-RW, the Green Book for CD-I, the White Book for Photo CD, and the Yellow Book for CD-ROM.
Most of the CD standards were developed by Sony and Philips.
