ISO/IEC 29119

ISO/ IEC/ IEEE 29119 is a software testing standard that combines existing software testing standards into a single standard. This is supported by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and IEEE.

Standard 29119 defines and aligns test terms, processes, documentation and the test techniques. The standard brings together existing testing standards such as the British Standards for Software Testing, the IEEE Standards for Software Documentation and Software Unit Testing, and the Test Process Improvements (TPI) and Test Maturity Model Integration (TMMI), and leverages their testing expertise. Standard 29119 describes a process model that includes organizational and project-specific test strategies, considers plans for test stages, and includes test case and documentation techniques.

The entire standard consists of three parts: The first part deals with terms and concepts, the second with test processes, and the third with test documentation.
