NFC forum

The NFC Forum is the public platform for the promotion of near field communication (NFC). The Forum has approximately 100 member companies and develops the architecture and technical specifications for NFC technology.

The NFC architecture contains the specifications for the NFC device architecture, protocols for compatible data exchange, and device-independent service connectivity and device acquisition.

Specified are the NFC data exchange format, the NFC Data Exchange Format( NDEF), which defines the data formats for NFC devices and NFC tags, the standardized NFC record types, the Record Type Definitions( RTD) that must be used in communications between NFC devices and NFC tags, the technical specifications for recording text, and the Uniform Resource Identifier( URI) for elements that point to a website.
