coding rule violation (CRV)

Coding Rule Violation (CRV) means violation of coding rules. All coding is subject to certain rules and guidelines that must be followed.

For example, bar coding according to Code 2/5 requires that a character consists of three bars and two gaps and that two bars or gaps are wider than the remaining three.

If such conventions are disregarded, it is a Coding Rule Violation (CRV), which inevitably leads to misinterpretation. To avoid CRVs, the generation of codes is supported by appropriate software.
