communication network for manufacturing application (MAP) (CNMA)

Communication Network for Manufacturing Application (CNMA) was a European Union ESPRIT project involving European manufacturers and users of Computer Integrated Manufacturing( CIM). It served to standardize factory automation in cooperation with the Manufacturing Automation Protocol( MAP) and the Manufacturing Message Specification MMS.

Essentially, the MAP 3.0 specifications were adopted. In connection with the CNMA project, several MAP installations were introduced into production operations in the 1980s.
