data record
A data record is a summary of data that are directly related to each other or have common characteristics. Data that is related in a meaningful way can be combined in a classification system.
Such an ordering system consists of several data fields, each of which contains the data for certain attributes. A distinction is made between logical and physical data sets. Logical data sets are collections of data whose data are logically related to each other. Physical data sets are small sets of data that can be processed collectively by storage media or computing units.
A file consists of a set of data records. For example, the data record of an address file consists of the last name, first name, street, house number, postal code and city.
