fast healthcare interoperability resources (FHIR)

Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) is an electronic health record exchange standard developed by Health Level Seven International( HL7). The FHIR standard eliminates the interoperability issues that exist between different electronic health records(EHRs).

The FHIR standard is divided into the Documentation, Implementation and Resources parts, which also define the data types, data formats and codes. These include XML and the JavaScript-basedJSON.

The interoperability standard enables software developers to more quickly create applications for digital patient records and exchange their data. The FHIR concept is based on individual modules that can be combined into a system. The functioning systems can take over administrative, clinical, health-oriented or infrastructural tasks and equally support the specialists, nursing staff and administration in their work.
