file separator (control character) (FS)

A main group separator, File Separator( FS), is used for padding when a DÜ block of a certain length is required and the characters in the header and/or text are not sufficient for this purpose.

The Information Separ ator( IS) character from the IA-5 alphabet (International Alphabet 5) is used for logical separation of messages; its special meaning is to be defined separately for the respective application. The control character for File Separator occupies the decimal ASCII value 028 in the ASCII character set, hexadecimal it is 1C.
